Sophie Fetokaki explores the qualities of prayer and ceremony in her music, drawing on folkloric songs and improvisation from far and wide. Her debut album Abundance was a kaleidoscopic tour de force of roots, folk, and reinvented classical songs.
While releasing the first record, Sophie was quietly crafting a new collection of original songs that reflect on the phenomenon of birth and the inevitability of death, turning to nature both for consolation and as a model of impermanence and change. She is currently playing this new material with long-time friend pianist Jochem Braat (NL). Together the duo gently expands the intimate universe of the songs, uplifting the decorated melodies on soft clouds of luscious harmonies.
